About the property
The first written mention of the property with a UNESCO World Heritage seal can be dated to the year 1814, but was probably built around 1780-1790. This makes this building probably the oldest continuously inhabited house in the Káli Basin.
The renovation began in 2012, when the attic was built and a new thatched roof was provided. The owner at the time used the house as a holiday home, but we've made it winterproof in recent years. The doors and windows were given double-layer, thermally insulated glass, and the heating was solved with WLAN-controlled NOBO panels. Water and heat insulation was installed under the reed cover (STEICO antiallergenic wool was installed with a thickness of 8-16 cm).
The walls of the building are made of stone, the wall thickness varies between 50-90 cm. In summer, even in the hottest weeks, this means a temperature of 20-22 degrees on the lower level and in winter it keeps you warm for a long time after heating up.
The floor of the kitchen is solved with heraldic bricks. Many of them have the Eszterházy seal, the piece of which is very valuable. The kitchen was renovated in 2019.
The guest room (or clean room) has a tiled stove. After the chimney has been piped up, the historic kitchen oven is also operationally safe.
In the attic there are two bedrooms and a gallery.
The building is a monument and has been awarded a UNESCO World Heritage Seal. The Balaton Oberland submitted its claim to UNESCO in 2015, and it will be declared a World Heritage Site in 2025 at the earliest. Hardly a dozen houses in the Káli Basin were included in the World Heritage List, and there are only three such objects in Szentbékkállá. It is one of the oldest houses in the area.
The property is being sold furnished (exceptions: children's room furniture and kitchen table).
